The variety of objects that God created in the heavens is staggering. One class of objects, which are called planetary nebula, are popular targets for observing. NGC-246 is one of the easier ones to observe, but it does take special equipment (like astro-video used in this case) or astro-photography to see the color. With an 8 inch Schmidt Cassegrain telescope and an astro-video camera, I was able to enjoy and sketch the object during early December 2009. The blue-green hues and the shape of the stellar cloud are beautiful.
The scripture speaks of God’s emphasis on the source of the objects by using language that is clear. He makes all things and alone stretched out the heavens in their vast array: providing example after example for us to consider as we ponder His attributes that would yield (in this case) such colors and shaping.
