The Wonder of the Southern Skies

When I observe in a southern location it is a treat for me because the southern celestial sphere is not always available to me as far south as I would like from my home state (Virginia). The sketch below shows two objects I intended to observe and sketch at the first opportunity when I was in Mississippi. The scriptures tell us that God makes note of the southern constellations. Actually, the scripture in Job 9:8-10 goes much further: explaining that the wonders of specific objects and the southern constellations are part of his signature that declares his power and ability. Here is the observing sheet as done on the evening in April:

The story actually extends much further. I had a chance to return to the southern skies near the end of the days in Missississippi. Detailed sketches of Centaurus A (a most unusual appearing galaxy) and M83 (a lovely barred spiral galaxy in Hydra) are presented on the Inspiration Page at the www.christworksministries.org site. I invite you to the story on the top left of the page. The summary ends with a link to the sketches.
