The Glory of Heavenly Bodies

Kinds of Splendor in Today’s Kinds.  The reference in 1 Corinthians is in the context of a discussion about today’s kinds of created things. Some are on earth; some are in the heavens. They all have a signature of sorts–a type of body with characteristics. Each of these kinds has the mark of the Creator, but His mark has an important characteristic: it is only a seed of what is to come.

Seeds are Meant to be Temporary…and Die!  The universe is not permanent. A biblical view of creation embraces God’s statements about creation that speak of its temporary nature. There will be a time when it is destroyed and all things will be made new. So, it is no surprise that what we see will have the life of a seed form or a form that is not meant to continue forever. For the person who reaches out to God and is born again, this becomes important in another way, because life that is lived is not just that which is seen and touched. There is something else going on.

The Sombrero Galaxy. It was named because it looks like a hat from Central or South American cultures. This magnificent sky city is quite bright and can be seen with a medium-sized telescope. It has a splendor all its own, as do many heavenly objects. One can see truly astounding pictures of it taken by large aperture telescopes and see much more detail. But remember, it is temporary.  Just like you.  Just like me.

The Path to Eternal Life. The only way to permanence is in a living relationship with God. So while you ponder the heavens or a baby’s hand, they are vastly different kinds but have one thing in common: the Creator. And, His intention is draw all men, if they are willing, to Himself. This is the time, space, and life time to do it. When the day comes, it will become apparent that its just a seed of what is to come. This life’s “kinds” have splendor, but nothing compared to what is to come.
