We can observe things with multiple views. Observing the heavens is the same. It is not uncommon for us to return to objects with different equipment to study at object at different magnifications and under different conditions. Over the last few years we have studied and sketched the Pinwheel Galaxy. In the last month, I have had a chance to record observations under low and high power, without and with astro-video. Each view is unique. One is shown here that shows the core of the Pinwheel using a 12.5 Dobsonian telescope with an astro video camera to assist my eyes. The series, including this view, can be seen at our ministry web site along with the complete story (www.christworksministries.org, Inspiration page, top left story).
The real story has a larger context, however. Just like we can study more and more detail of an object with more and more magnification, we find increasing complexity and mystery. The process is a clear reminder of the way God searches the soul of man. He goes deep, then deeper, then deeper still. His grace and truth are as endless as our search to discover more of his created universe. We will not find a limit to what he has created any more than we can find or understand the width and breadth of his hand. Yet, he loves us, and calls us to choose: do we believe he can reach deep into our soul and settle the heart or do we have a “better” idea. Choose God.
