The Pebbles at My Feet

The Pebbles at My Feet.

There was something about the man’s prayer this morning. He was speaking to God, but God was speaking to me. The man repented for being overly conscious of minor things, and I saw my eyes looking down at my own two feet…shuffling over mere pebbles.  I recall the Lord’s words to me several years ago when I was hospitalized with pneumonia and unable to walk without a horrible cough.  I prayed about this walk with the man He gave to me, which might be coming to an end.  God’s faithful correction that day emphasized His desire that I not only continue to walk with the man but run with him and climb mountains with him.

Today, I hear that voice again remind me to stop being preoccupied with the pebbles at my feet.  Put on those running shoes, hold the man’s hand, and finish the course of life – even if we have to climb a few mountains to get there!  “Yes, Lord, I hear you!”

“Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…”  Hebrews 12:1,2
