Lull in the Rain but not the Blood

Clouds were poised but took a break. I took a walk past the old shed. Its wood is splintered and grey, but it stands. I’ve been walking past that shed for 30 years, but it stands.20151003-shed

My thoughts walked past the world. Does it stand? Its wood is people. Many are missing. Does the world stand? Over a billion innocents are gone before they came. They never stood. We’ve been walking past their blood for more than 30 years. Do we really stand?

The rain started again, so I turned around. I passed the old shed again. Another day or two and the sun will shine. The little streams that catch the rain will have stopped and the sun will shine on the old wood shed that stands. The blood of the innocents keeps flowing from the ones who have never stood.

Lord, save us from ourselves! Cleanse us with the only blood that washes hearts so we will keep the innocents, so they can stand.

“My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.”        Psalm 139:15  (NIV)
