Introduction — The Genesis Connection Series

This begins a brief series of short posts about prominent modern issues that are addressed in Genesis but are also found in other books of the Bible. In a day when the Bible, especially Genesis, is disrespected by many institutions, it nevertheless claims that key issues and history have not changed. In various places it shows that we do not do well separated from our Creator. However, today there is hardly a notion that a creator exists, much less have any real place in society. But are popular notions true rather than the Bible?

What do you think? Upon what evidence is your thinking verified?

We challenge the reader: is the world really working very well?  Is human nature improving? Are popular interpretations of the  world and our origins sound?  Do they rest on iron-clad assumptions when they come from human thinking?

The Bible, from the beginning to the end, deals with real issues that humankind cannot seem to solve. It has a different foundation and even claims to be without error. In this day the Bible is unpopular, selectively believed, and often maligned in the face of man-defined ideas. However, is that justified? Do we get along? Can we do anything we want? Do we alone have a realistic view of history and the world around us? While some people wax eloquent about the human spirit, the evidence is contrary. Suicides are rising; strife is not decreasing; despots repeatedly show up in charge of regions; self-defined definitions of good and bad constantly change; the chasm between gross materialism and poverty among peoples is worsening. In all of this, the complexities of creation are claimed by most people to have developed all on their own. Is that possible?

For the readers, consider that the God of the Bible might have answers that are sound, and many key issues begin in Genesis but are repeated in other books. We can testify that finding God and believing what He says changes things. Consider the following quote from Proverbs 8:

For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord, but he who fails to find me injures himself
