Delight Series #1: Delight in the Creator’s Creation

Delight in the Creator’s Creation.

Living in group settings in college days and observing human behavior (including my own) convinced me that something was sorely lacking. Man ‘s behavior was often terrible and not getting better as I looked around me. Yet when I visited the mountains or followed a rocky stream or thought of my childhood on tidal creeks, I was amazed at the complexity and beauty of water and land. No college course or book had given me any answers to what I was observing – either to man’s sorry behavior or the wonder of the natural world. I tried to seek God. I remember talking out loud on a mountain trail, “God, I don’t know you, but you have to be out there, or all of this would not be here.”

Not long after that statement, I repented of my sin and was born again (just like Jesus Christ mentions being ‘born again’ John 3:3). It’s been over 50 years as a follower of Christ, and my appreciation for His creation from the seas to the heavens continues to grow. It is a signpost to God that speaks without words, although the Bible, as I learned, often speaks of what He made.

Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God…”

Job 14-15  “…stop and consider the wondrous works of God.”

Psalm 146:6 “…God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them…”

Revelation 4:11 “…for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

Genesis 1 and 2   …every word as it is written

Do you know the Creator? If He saved me and I got to know Him, then you can, too.
