Delight in Having a Redeemer.
When I became a Christian, I became aware of His love, which was accompanied by a quiet joy. It’s one of those things that is much deeper than emotion. The transformation that accompanies salvation began to affect thoughts, feelings, and desires. I never anticipated the extent of the change, but it began to happen.
I had questions, of course, along the path. One of them was: “How He could speak to everyone?” I asked the man who led me to Christ, since I hardly knew anything in the Bible at that point. He had a simple answer that started with a question, “Do you know that you were born again?” I said “yes” because I was witnessing the change that was taking place. I sensed His love and that quiet joy. After my answer, he added a second question. “If He is able to make you know Him and His salvation, don’t you think He can do that with anyone?” The answer was enough.
Much later, as my understanding of the Bible and grace of God began grew, my delight in His persistence to continue that work of salvation in me grew also. Indeed, Christ makes a way for people to know Him more as they walk with Him. Just as the work of salvation did not depend on my effort to make myself right to be saved, I learned to trust that He was able to make more changes as I walked forward with Him. Therefore, my appreciation of the Redeemer’s love and joy continues to grow. It’s been over 50 years of observation and learning.
A relationship with Jesus Christ is worth everything. You can have it, too.
John 8:36 “So, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
Titus 2:13-14 “our God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession who are zealous for good works.”
