Earth is characterized as a Goldilocks planet. The unwritten assumption is that the universe evolved by itself with no direction, no plan, and with one primary mechanism: chance. So it is just lucky that our planet is the way it is. However, even the the little children’s story about Goldilocks, who samples things and finds one that is perfect for her among every trio of things presented, talks about things being made with forethought and deliberate steps. The whole context of the children’s story is not chance occurrence, but orchestrated presentations of something for her to try. Going further to a more serious and reliable Reference, the Bible is clear that the planet is unique. Isaiah says, “…made to be inhabited” as the message was delivered to him from the Spirit of God.
So as you gaze at NASA’s picture of earth, which is frequently overlooked because pictures like this are so common, consider a few simple things:
–No planet like this one has ever been detected.
–It’s existence is statistically impossible when the variables are considered seriously.
–The variables themselves are unique (water, atmosphere, vegetation, life, position/rotation…)
–The array of predictive laws that we have “discovered” show the opposite of randomness
This list could go on, but that does not keep the natural and evolutionary view from being underscored as the only answer in the vast majority of school textbooks. The delusion of a self-made universe and life (abiogenesis) goes deep into the heart of education and institutions.
What do I see when I observe a beautiful edge-on galaxy like this? What do I know about its placement and origin?
So we look up at night. Are you looking at a vast array of both non-evolved star dust to fully evolved stars? Are the galaxies accidently placed? Are there alien races, having been evolved through some unknown path from dust in a different sector of the universe? Are there multiple universes?
The Bible is clear, and so are many scientists and specialists who believe the biblical account, and use that base as a firm foundation to pursue study of many parts of the universe and earth. The heavens are the handiwork of God. Therein lies a problem, because the proper answer is typically forbidden.
Consider the irony of most schooling. We can attest to the accidental by-chance mechanism of the universe coming into being, gloss over the mystery of non-life to life in that same universe, and speak in detail about how a simple cell becomes a scientist over “deep time” using “known” laws, but the laws don’t exist, people produce people, kinds produce kinds, and famous experiments clearly show that life does not come from non-life. Notwithstanding, in most places God cannot, will not, shall not ever be mentioned.
The reversal from Biblical creation is not a surprise. God said it was going to happen among people. It is not new. Just because a no-God-permitted approach is loud and everywhere does not make it right. The issue is closer to home: what will you say? What will you say to your children?
If you want help in this subject, which is not as complicated as you might be led to believe when it comes to origins and the differences between a biblical and natural (no-God-permitted) worldviews, then download the free study on creation that is in the Files Gallery. Or, contact the author for a copy at email@example.com. It’s the same study that is planned for use in a large foundation of schools in the Philippines and is on its way to other places. It is for students, parents, and teachers alike. Please, know what God says about the heavens and the earth. Read some of the results of research and discovery by believing scientists and specialists. Do not promote the delusion of a self-made universe. It is not true. If you think it all came about by itself, go through the study and consider what the Bible says.
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
He gathers the waters of the sea into jars;
he puts the deep into storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all the people of the world revere him.
For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.
