There is a wonderful scripture verse that says “O taste and see that the Lord is good.” It is also a song from way way back. The reference is so short and usually passed by so quickly that the meaning is lost. Think of it: your ability to taste in wonderfully complex and samples from bitter to sweet, sour to bland, combinations of different flavors at once, textures that link to flavors, and the list could go on. So, tasting of the Lord Jesus Christ is the same for the believer. Whether new believer or old, the variety and expanse of the experiential walk with God is beyond comprehension. Words cannot define it. Testimonies are never complete enough.
Exploring a scene in space is similar. Where does it end? Galaxies, double stars, clusters, and nebulae are manifold. The moon, in many ways, is even more dramatic because light conditions change daily. While the period repeats, observations show differences. Even during an extended observation for a couple of hours, an astute observer can see shadows change at medium magnification. And, the moon is a specific creation on Day 4 of Creation, as explained in Genesis 1. Its size and placement provide another example of the variety within just a small portion of his creation.
With that in mind, let’s “taste and see that the Lord is good” in a particular way. The sketch below is another Sinus Iridum sketch. The last blog showed a couple of sketches from just recently, but this one is older by over a couple years. The appearance is somewhat the same, but the shadows are a little different and contrast in the sketch reflects a different observing period. Same object both times, but different conditions and slightly different lighting conditions on the lunar surface yield a unique observation each time. It is an excellent reminder that God in His wisdom made creation as varied as our taste. Creation is there as an indicator of the vastness of variety of our God. It beckons us to search him out. And, Jesus makes it clear. If we will call upon him, he will not only forgive our sins, he will reveal himself to us. Oh my, what a revelation begins to unfold!!
