Easter Morning Memories

We had only been sketching a couple years by 2008. Easter in 2008 was a bright morning because of the waning but nearly full moon in the West was so bright. I woke earlier than normal and ran for a sketch pad. The first sketch was from the inside looking out through beveled glass at the setting moon; the second was outside looking in the opposite direction toward the rising sun. The sketch shows the results of that quick opportunity that morning. I also remember tucking back into bed for a little bit, thinking on the wonder of that morning over 2000 years ago. It led to the notes on the sketch.

While one day in the Lord is not greater than another, the celebration of His rising from the dead, having accomplished everything perfectly for us, is a nice tradition. That first Easter morning is well documented in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. God makes sure that the commication of the events surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are clear because the power of the message, if believed, is life changing. One either chooses to disbelieve the message or accepts the event. If accepted, a person’s life is meant to transformed–not merely influenced–because the power of the resurrection is a sure down payment of God’s intention to save us and change us.

It is a good day to give thanks.
